Which nationalities and age range can participate?

The agreement is open to young Italians and Canadians aged 18 to 35. For the Working Holiday category, participants are those who intend to travel in the host country and obtain temporary work during their stay.

The employer must communicate the hiring of a Canadian citizen to the competent authorities, in accordance with the national legislation of Italy. 4. Canadian and Italian citizens in possession of the documents issued by Canada or Italy pursuant to this Article are entitled to work for the entire authorization of stay, a maximum duration of twelve (12) months, including with the same employer if they so choose.

What funds, insurance, onward travel or similar preparation is particularly important?

Before arriving, participants need a Canadian passport valid at least three months beyond the Italian visa's validity, a departure ticket or sufficient funds to buy one, proof of sufficient and reasonable funds for the start of the stay (amounts notified between the Parties by diplomatic notes), and health insurance including hospitalisation and repatriation for the entire authorised stay; applicable fees must be paid.
