What exact activity, role or purpose qualifies?

The route covers religious duties within, or directed by, the sponsor's organisation, which may include preaching, pastoral and non-pastoral work, or working in a religious order.

What organisation, institution, religious body, charity, teacher or host must support the activity?

A licensed sponsor must issue a certificate of sponsorship; the work must relate to the sponsor organisation's work. If the sponsor is a religious order, the applicant must be a member of it.

What proves the placement, role, affiliation, experience or cultural/religious/voluntary activity?

The Certificate of Sponsorship entry must outline the duties and explain how the resident labour market test was met, or why the role is exempt.

Can the person receive salary, pocket money, accommodation, meals or reimbursement? Can they undertake other work?

The worker must receive pay and conditions at least equal to settled workers in the same role, and pay must comply with or be exempt from minimum wage rules. Supplementary employment is allowed.

How long can they stay, can they change host/activity, can family accompany, and can the status be extended?

Entry clearance covers the engagement plus 14 days before and after, capped at 2 years. Extensions require sponsorship in the same Tier 5 subcategory. Partners of Religious Workers are covered by the Part 8 dependant rules. The route does not lead to settlement. The official source does not state whether the host can be changed.
