Which citizenship, status or regional agreement creates the person's right to move/reside?

Status under Appendix EU of the Isle of Man Immigration Rules, which gives indefinite or limited leave to EEA citizens, their family members and family members of qualifying British citizens. The Isle of Man keeps its scheme aligned with the UK's EU Settlement Scheme.

Under which circumstances can the person reside: worker, self-employed, student, jobseeker, self-funded person or another recognised basis?

What entry, registration or residence-document formalities remain?

Late applications are made by sending a completed application form and supporting documents to the Isle of Man Immigration Service. Pre-settled status holders must contact the Immigration Service for an updated status document, which proves the right to work, live or study and allows re-entry after travel.

Which non-member-country family members can accompany or join, and what broad rights do they receive?

Family members of eligible EEA citizens can apply, including as joining family members of a relevant sponsor. A non-British child of an Irish citizen can get the same status as the parent or status based on their own residence. Status holders can work, use the NHS if eligible, study, access public funds if eligible, and travel.

Limits of the record
  • Non-EEA family member rules are in the IOM EUSS Guidance (pages 8-9), which was not captured.

When do permanent/long-term rights arise and what continuity, absence or retention conditions matter?

Pre-settled status is 5 years' limited leave. Holders with 5 years' continuous residence are likely to qualify for settled status (indefinite leave). The Isle of Man automatically extended pre-settled status by a further 5 years on 16 December 2024. It is not replicating the UK process of automatically converting eligible pre-settled status holders to settled status. The official source does not state absence limits or when settled status is lost.
