What exact activity, role or purpose qualifies?

The permit is for employing foreign nationals who have the qualifications, skills, experience or knowledge needed to develop, run and build capacity in sporting and cultural activities.

What organisation, institution, religious body, charity, teacher or host must support the activity?

An employer registered with the Revenue Commissioners (and the CRO, where applicable) that is trading in Ireland, and that will employ and pay the person directly.

What proves the placement, role, affiliation, experience or cultural/religious/voluntary activity?

The person must have the qualifications, skills and experience the job requires. The Department may consult relevant persons or governing bodies. The official source does not list the specific documents that prove the cultural experience.

Can the person receive salary, pocket money, accommodation, meals or reimbursement? Can they undertake other work?

This is paid employment, and pay must be at least the National Minimum Wage. Work is limited to the named employer, occupation and location. A first-time holder is expected to stay 12 months with the first employer (unless seasonal); after that they can move with a new permit application.

How long can they stay, can they change host/activity, can family accompany, and can the status be extended?

The first grant is for up to 24 months (or seasonal) and can be extended by a further 3 years, after which the holder is expected to apply for long-term residency. Dependants and spouses cannot get a Dependant/Partner/Spouse Employment Permit; they must apply for a permit in their own right. A first-time holder is expected to stay 12 months with the first employer (unless seasonal); after that they can move with a new permit application.
