What short-visit purposes does this route cover?

The Short Stay 'C' visa can be used to travel to Ireland for up to 90 days to get married, selecting Marriage/Civil Partnership as the reason for travel. A marriage visa can be applied for after the applicant and their future spouse have received an acknowledgement from the Registrar confirming the date of receipt of notification of their intention to marry. The visa covers travel for up to 90 days. Its validity normally starts from the date the visa was granted and expires 90 days after that date, but in some circumstances it will be shorter; the visa officer determines the validity and this cannot be appealed. Travel to Ireland is only possible between the dates on the visa, which must be presented to an Immigration Officer at a port of entry between those dates, and the journey type can be single or multiple.
