What short-visit purposes does this route cover?

What maximum stay, rolling-period rule, validity and entry rules apply?

The landing stamp sets how long the person can stay, up to a maximum of 90 days. Work must start and end within a single 14-day period (2 calendar weeks), and the person cannot work more than once during the 90-day period. Multiple-entry visas are approved in limited circumstances only.

What important funds, accommodation, invitation, insurance, onward-travel or passport evidence may be required?

Applicants must show enough money to support themselves fully in Ireland; there is no minimum amount and the visa officer decides based on the applicant's circumstances. A written invitation from a host in Ireland (customer, supplier, company or organisation) is required. Travel or medical insurance must be obtained before travel once the visa is approved, and entry is not allowed without it. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the planned departure from Ireland.

Where/how is permission obtained when required, and under what important circumstances can a stay be extended or changed?

Applications are made online via AVATS from the home country or a country where the applicant is legally resident, prepared 3 months before travel. Working more than once for 14 days or less within 90 days is not permitted; that requires permission through the Atypical Working Scheme and, if successful, a short stay employment visa. An extension is possible only in exceptional circumstances where the visit changes unexpectedly after arrival, not to attend a meeting/event, and must be applied for in Ireland before the permission expires.
