What important financial, accommodation, insurance or maintenance responsibilities apply?

The applicant must show proof of living expenses for the stay in Indonesia: a bank statement for the last 3 months in the name of the foreign national or the sponsor, showing a minimum of USD 2,000 or the equivalent amount. How does the application work at a high level, what rights does the family member receive, how long does the status last, and how can it become independent or longer-term where officially stated?

The sponsor applies online through evisa.imigrasi.go.id; the Limited Stay Permit (ITAS) and Re-entry Permit are issued automatically when the holder is admitted at the immigration checkpoint. The holder may live and study in Indonesia, and may enter and leave Indonesia while the Re-entry Permit is valid. The stay is 1 or 2 years (applicant's choice) from arrival; the permit can be extended online and can be transferred to another stay permit. The official source does not state whether the family member can obtain a status independent of the sponsor.

Limits of the record
  • The page says the permit can be transferred to 'another stay permit' but does not name which one (e.g. ITAP) or the conditions for it.
  • The page does not say whether or how the family member can obtain a status independent of the sponsor.
