Who may sponsor or bring the family member, and what immigration/citizenship status must that person hold?

E31B is presented as the spouse route for a foreign holder of an Indonesian ITAS or ITAP. A sponsor must file the visa application through evisa.imigrasi.go.id, and the page asks for proof of the marriage. The page also asks for an application letter from an Indonesian-citizen spouse, which conflicts with the foreign ITAS/ITAP spouse stated in the route title; the sponsor’s required citizenship or immigration status cannot be resolved from this page alone.

Limits of the record
  • The official E31B page conflicts internally: the route title describes a foreign ITAS/ITAP-holder spouse, while the document list calls for a letter from an Indonesian-citizen spouse. The precise sponsor-status rule requires authoritative clarification.

What is important for proving marriage, partnership, parentage, custody, dependency or another qualifying relationship?

If the marriage took place outside Indonesia: proof of its reporting or registration with an Indonesian representation or civil-registration authority, plus the marriage certificate translated into Indonesian by a sworn translator. If the marriage took place in Indonesia: the marriage book or certificate issued by the competent ministry or institution. Translation is not needed for documents in English.

What important financial, accommodation, insurance or maintenance responsibilities apply?

The applicant must show proof of living expenses for the stay in Indonesia: a bank statement for the last 3 months in the name of the foreign national or the sponsor, showing a minimum of USD 2,000 or the equivalent amount. The official source does not state accommodation, insurance or other maintenance responsibilities.

How does the application work at a high level, what rights does the family member receive, how long does the status last, and how can it become independent or longer-term where officially stated?

The sponsor applies online through evisa.imigrasi.go.id; the Limited Stay Permit (ITAS) and Re-entry Permit are issued automatically when the holder is admitted at the immigration checkpoint. The holder may live in Indonesia as long as immigration rules are met, and may enter and leave Indonesia while the Re-entry Permit is valid. The stay is 1 or 2 years (applicant's choice) from arrival; the permit can be extended online and can be transferred to another stay permit. The official source does not state a path to status independent of the sponsor.

Limits of the record
  • The page says the permit can be transferred to 'another stay permit' but does not name which one (e.g. ITAP) or the conditions for it.
  • The page does not say whether or how the family member can obtain a status independent of the sponsor.
