Is this for a founder, startup entrepreneur, self-employed person, freelancer, company owner or another business profile?

E-Business is for foreigners whose sole objective in visiting India is a business purpose. The e-Visa page also places under e-Business sports-related activity, delivering lectures under the Global Initiative for Academic Networks (GIAN), and conference attendance.

What must actually exist or be demonstrated: business plan, company, innovation, clients, contracts, economic activity, job creation or other substance?

The applicant uploads a business card together with details of the Indian firm/company they intend to associate with for business activities. A business card means a card from the company the applicant works for, or alternatively an invitation letter from the company in India with its information, address and phone number in India. A letter of invitation from the Indian parties is optional where applicable.

What investment, capital, income, revenue, funding or viability evidence is central to this pathway?

The only financial condition stated is the general e-Visa rule that the foreigner should have a return or onward journey ticket with sufficient money to spend during the stay in India.

What approval/application sequence applies, how long is the status granted, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction is officially stated?

Applications are made online at least 4 days before arrival (up to 120 days ahead). e-Business (e-B1 V) is valid 365 days from grant of the ETA with multiple entries; continuous stay per visit may not exceed 180 days, and anyone intending to stay longer must register with the FRRO/FRO within two weeks after the 180 days. e-B5 V is valid 30 days from arrival and e-B6 V one year from grant of the ETA. e-Visa is non-extendable and non-convertible.
