For the relevant traveller scope, is a visa, electronic authorisation, visa on arrival or no advance visa normally required?

The relevant permission described by the Hungarian Embassy in Kuwait is a short-stay uniform Schengen visa (type C), which can be issued for one, two or multiple entries and permits no more than 90 days in a 180-day period. The embassy page does not identify which traveller nationalities must obtain a C visa; whether this particular traveller needs advance permission therefore cannot be determined from this source alone. A visa is preliminary permission and border officers may require proof of entry and stay conditions before admitting the traveller.

What important funds, accommodation, invitation, insurance, onward-travel or passport evidence may be required?

For tourism or private visiting under the Hungarian Embassy in Kuwait’s Schengen C visa guidance, a tourist may provide a travel-agency certificate or, for an individual visit, prepaid accommodation reservation and valid flight ticket. Visiting friends or acquaintances calls for a public-notarial invitation and a copy of the host’s Hungarian identity document or passport. For family relations, the page also permits an applicant-signed explanation of the family tie with the relative’s name, address, phone number and purpose of entry and stay. All purposes call for sufficient means for the stay, for example bank statements for all accounts up to six months. A travel document needs two blank pages, issue within ten years and validity at least three months after departure; a recent passport photo is listed. Adequate valid travel medical insurance may be required, and the consul may seek further evidence. Border officers may require proof of entry and stay conditions despite the visa.
