For the scientific national-interest branch, the Minister responsible for Immigration and Asylum Affairs may grant a residence permit if the applicant proves that the stay serves Hungary’s national interest. The factsheet describes the permit purpose as actual remunerated work under an employment relationship; it does not establish unrestricted employment rights. The residence-permit document may be valid for up to three years and extended for up to three years at a time. Extension applications are submitted in Hungary through Enter Hungary. The Minister may withdraw a permit if withdrawal is reasonable following a change in the scientific interest relied on when it was issued. The factsheet does not establish whether family members can be included under this permit or a separate family-reunification route.
