Which nationalities and age range can participate?

The Scheme is for national passport holders aged 18 to 30 of a participating country who ordinarily reside in their home country and whose main intention is to holiday in Hong Kong.

The official Hong Kong page for Working Holiday Scheme states: Participants will not be eligible to come to Hong Kong for any further working holiday under the same Scheme. Other conditions, exceptions and documentary requirements remain subject to the wording of the official page.

What funds, insurance, onward travel or similar preparation is particularly important?

The participant must have sufficient funds for maintenance and agree to hold medical, healthcare, repatriation and liability insurance throughout the stay. The official source does not give a single funds amount for every participating nationality.

How long can the person stay, can the programme be extended or repeated, and what happens when it ends?

A Working Holiday Visa holder may be allowed to enter and stay in Hong Kong for not more than 12 months, subject to normal immigration requirements. Applications for extension of stay will not normally be considered, and the programme cannot be repeated: participants are not eligible for any further working holiday under the same Scheme.
