What funds, insurance, onward travel or similar preparation is particularly important?

Under paragraph 90(i) of the published Guernsey Rules, a Youth Mobility participant must maintain and accommodate themselves adequately from available resources without recourse to public funds, or be adequately maintained and accommodated by relatives or friends. That clause uses a qualitative adequacy requirement, not a stated money amount. Paragraph 89 also requires valid current Youth Mobility entry clearance and incorporates paragraph 41(ii), (v) and (vii)–(xii): this expressly includes the ability to meet the cost of the return or onward journey and an intention to leave at the end of the stated visit. The current Guernsey visa guidance directs applicants to the UK Youth Mobility application route and separately requires a Population Management Permit or Certificate to live/work on the island.
