Which family relationships qualify?

Indefinite leave to enter the Bailiwick as the child of a parent, parents or a relative present and settled there, or being admitted for settlement on the same occasion (paragraph 297).

    **297.** The requirements to be met by a person seeking indefinite leave to enter the Bailiwick of Guernsey as the child of a parent, parents or a relative present and settled or being admitted for settlement in the Bailiwick of Guernsey are that he – (i) is seeking leave to enter to accompany or join a parent, parents or a relative in one of the following circumstances – (a) both parents are present and settled in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, or (b) both parents are being admitted on the same occasion for settlement, or

The child must be under 18, unmarried, not leading an independent life and not have formed an independent family unit, and must be joining parents who are both settled or being admitted for settlement, or one settled parent where the other is dead or the settled parent has had sole responsibility for the upbringing, or a settled parent or relative where there are serious and compelling family or other considerations making exclusion undesirable and suitable care arrangements have been made.

No amount is fixed: the child must be able to be accommodated adequately without recourse to public funds in accommodation which the sponsoring parent, parents or relative own or occupy exclusively, be maintained adequately by them without recourse to public funds, hold a valid entry clearance for this capacity, and not fall for refusal under the general grounds for refusal.
