What family, citizenship, ethnic, historical or former-resident connection creates access to this route?

Greek origin (omogeneia): a foreign national who claims Greek-origin status but has no previous residence title, and who cannot use the special frameworks for people of Greek origin from Albania, Turkey or the former USSR.

What application progression, residence obligations, family consequences or further citizenship/residence possibilities follow?

The permit is renewed every two years on the same ground, or can be renewed under another ground of the Code if its conditions are met. Spouses, direct descendants and direct ascendants living in Greece also get a permit. No path to citizenship is stated.
