What is important for proving marriage, partnership, parentage, custody, dependency or another qualifying relationship?

The family must already have been formed in the other member state; if it was formed after the right of residence in Greece was exercised, the general family reunification articles 83 to 90 apply instead. The application must be accompanied by the required supporting documents. The official source does not state which documents prove the relationship.

Limits of the record
  • The route-specific official capture set did not yield a verified answer for this question in the completed batch. This is an unresolved evidence gap, not a claim that the requirement or right does not exist.

How does the application work at a high level, what rights does the family member receive, how long does the status last, and how can it become independent or longer-term where officially stated?

Family members apply within three months of entering Greece; the competent service of the Decentralised Administration examines the application and, if the conditions are met and there are no public order, public security or public health grounds, grants a family reunification permit that follows the fate of the sponsor's residence permit. The procedure ends within four months of the complete application, extendable by up to three further months. Holders have the rights of article 89: equal access to education, employed work, and vocational guidance and training. The official source does not state how the status can become independent or longer-term.
