Which exceptional-talent, academic, scientific, artistic, technological, cultural or other profiles does the pathway target?

Researchers who already hold a valid researcher title issued by another EU member state (the first member state) and who come to Greece to carry out part of their research at a research organisation.

Is an employer, nominator, recognised body, peer group or government endorsement required?

Yes. The research organisation in Greece must notify the competent Greek authorities of the researcher's intention to carry out part of the research there; the Greek authority may object within 30 days. A hosting agreement with the Greek research organisation is required where the stay exceeds three months.

Can the holder change employer, work independently, establish a business or conduct other professional activity? What is the family position?

During mobility researchers may teach in addition to their research. Family members holding a valid residence permit as a researcher's family in the first member state may enter to accompany or join the researcher. Changing employer, self-employment or starting a business are not addressed.

What duration, renewal and accelerated or normal longer-term residence pathway is officially stated?

Short-term mobility lasts up to 180 days in any 360-day period. For stays above 180 days the researcher must apply for long-term mobility (a residence permit under art. 110) with a new hosting agreement. No path to long-term residence is stated.
