What absence/continuity rules affect accumulation of the qualifying residence period?

The 12 months before applying must be continuous, but in special circumstances the Director, with the Minister's approval, may accept a continuous 12-month period ending not more than six months before the application. After grant, absence from Ghana for more than 12 consecutive months causes automatic loss of the status; reinstatement is treated as a fresh application.
