Is this for a founder, startup entrepreneur, self-employed person, freelancer, company owner or another business profile?

This is a temporary residence card for a foreign national who will work as an entrepreneur, in a liberal profession or in another independent activity that is not subject to a separate authorisation in French Polynesia. The card is marked Profession libérale.

What must actually exist or be demonstrated: business plan, company, innovation, clients, contracts, economic activity, job creation or other substance?

There must be a non-salaried activity that requires registration in a locally applicable register and a TAHITI number, shown by company registration documents (statutes, Kbis) under three months old. The High Commissioner checks that the activity is compatible with public security, health and peace and, where relevant, that no conviction or decision bans the person from commercial activity; an applicant already residing in French Polynesia gives a sworn declaration of no conviction or bankruptcy.

What investment, capital, income, revenue, funding or viability evidence is central to this pathway?

The cited texts set no fixed capital or income amount: the activity must be economically viable and provide sufficient means of existence. Before applying, the person must obtain an opinion on the economic viability of the activity from the locally competent service for business, competition, consumer affairs, labour and employment.

That Visitor card does not authorise work. The official sources do not establish broader dependent rights under the entrepreneur card.

What approval/application sequence applies, how long is the status granted, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction is officially stated?

Applications must be made no later than two months after arrival, or before the long-stay visa expires, even if that visa already counts as a residence title. Renewal must be requested within the two months before the current title expires. The temporary card has a maximum validity of one year. The High Commission gives a general maximum of four years for a multi-year card, but the official source does not establish this route's eligibility for that card or its granted term. These grounds do not provide access to the 10-year resident card.
