Where can protection be requested, and is this a direct application, border/in-country request, referral or other process?

Application is made online (ANEF) 4 to 2 months before the current residence document expires, with the protection order issued by the family-affairs judge.

What happens after the request: registration, family handling, major support and rights where officially stated?

When the online application is filed, a digital filing certificate is issued immediately. The private-and-family-life card authorises residence and work without the employer needing a work authorisation; the temporary card is valid for 1 year, and its renewal cannot be refused while the person continues to benefit from a protection order.

Which competent authority, UN body or official assistance channel should the person use?

The application is handled through the prefecture for the applicant’s residence.
