What is important for proving marriage, partnership, parentage, custody, dependency or another qualifying relationship?

The applicant must prove the relationship, both parents' nationality, the child's age, and the French parent's residence in France (or intention to reside); a minor under joint parental authority needs the other parent's consent; parentage must be legally established and a foreign adoption must be lawful.

The child receives a long-stay visa valid 3 months, followed by a residence permit requested from the prefecture of residence. A foreign child of a French national aged 18–21, aged 16–18 and wishing to work, or dependent on the parents gets a 10-year resident card, which authorises residence and work without a work authorisation.
