Which types of residence count fully, partially or not at all where the official rules specify this?

Prior residence counts if held in France or another EU country with an EU Blue Card, a national permit for highly qualified employment, a 'researcher' permit, or a permit for refugees or subsidiary-protection beneficiaries. Part of the 5 years may be spent in another EU member state, but the 2 years immediately before the application must be in France.
