  • The capture gives examples and the maximum period but not an exhaustive occupation list.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

Confirmed employment in a seasonal-work sector is required before applying: the employer must confirm the hire, usually by an employment contract, and must supplement the application with the terms of employment. For work with more than one employer, information and attachments for all employers must be submitted.

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

Wages must meet at least the collective-agreement minimum; where there is no collective agreement, gross wages must be at least EUR 1,463 per month in 2026. For employment of 6 to 9 months, the Finnish Immigration Service first checks whether suitable labour is available in Finland or the EU/EEA within a reasonable time. A person living permanently in another EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland cannot get this permit.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

Work cannot start before the permit is granted. The permit is always bound to a specific employer: the holder may only work for the employer named on the permit, but may apply to add a new employer of seasonal workers to a valid permit. Family members of seasonal workers cannot get a residence permit on the basis of family ties.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

Permits for seasonal work can be granted for a maximum of 9 months during a 12-month period. The official source does not state renewal or a longer-term residence direction.
