What organisation, institution, religious body, charity, teacher or host must support the activity?

The host is a host family with which the au pair has a written placement agreement; the au pair must not be closely related to its members (e.g. sibling or first/second cousin), and the family must organise tasks so that Finnish or Swedish classes can be attended.

What proves the placement, role, affiliation, experience or cultural/religious/voluntary activity?

Proof consists of a certificate of Finnish/Swedish language or Finnish culture studies (or documentation of interest in Finnish culture) from an educational institution or an accountable online course provider, proof of enrolment on a language or culture course in Finland, and the written agreement with the host family.

Can the person receive salary, pocket money, accommodation, meals or reimbursement? Can they undertake other work?

The host-family agreement covers accommodation, means of support and benefits from the host family, and pocket money of at least EUR 340 per month; the permit allows only au pair tasks and gives no right to other work in Finland.

How long can they stay, can they change host/activity, can family accompany, and can the status be extended?

A person can live in Finland on au pair status for a maximum of one year. The official source does not state whether the host family can be changed, whether family may accompany or whether the status can be extended.
