Is this for a founder, startup entrepreneur, self-employed person, freelancer, company owner or another business profile?

This route is for a person who intends to come to Finland to become an entrepreneur. Before a permit can be issued, entrepreneurs usually need to enter their business in the Trade Register maintained by the Finnish Patent and Registration Office.

What approval/application sequence applies, how long is the status granted, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction is officially stated?

The application is processed in two stages: the Economic Development Centre first makes a partial decision, then the Finnish Immigration Service processes the application. A first permit is applied for abroad; extended permits can only be applied for in Finland, before the first permit expires. The official source does not state how long the permit is granted for or a longer-term residence direction.
