Which exceptional-talent, academic, scientific, artistic, technological, cultural or other profiles does the pathway target?

Research Permit is granted to a person to undertake research for the benefit of local universities or institutions or as part of their professional or educational requirement, under section 9(2)(e) of the Immigration Act 2003. It applies to new students and existing student permit holders.

What achievements, recognition, awards, publications, reputation or other evidence establishes the required level?

The official source does not state any achievement, award, publication or reputation requirement for the researcher. The approvals it requires, a letter of consent and endorsement from the local institution and approval of the proposed research by the Minister responsible for education, concern the research proposal rather than the researcher's own record.
