What investment option or options qualify?

This route (Form F-04) is for a foreign national who is president, board member, legal representative or shareholder of a commercial company legally established in El Salvador, or the titleholder/general manager of a company with an active investment in the country meeting the minimum of 4,000 current monthly minimum wages transferred to El Salvador, under article 11 of the Ley de Inversiones and articles 90 and 109(1) of the Ley Especial de Migración y de Extranjería.

What official minimum amount, tier or threshold applies to each relevant option?

Article 11 of the Investment Law requires four thousand (cuatro mil) current monthly minimum wages at the date of transfer to El Salvador. Separate government fees for non-Central Americans are USD 140 (up to one year) or USD 260 (up to two years).

How long must the investment be maintained and what continuing ownership, investment or physical-presence conditions are important?

The investor must hold a role in a company with an active investment in the country and provide the foreign-capital registration issued by the National Investment Office (ONI). Temporary residents must spend at least 90 days a year in El Salvador. At renewal, if the original circumstances still exist, the Directorate may decide on the documents first submitted. The official source does not state a minimum holding period for the investment.

Extension is a separate procedure (form F19, Prórroga Residencia Temporal para Inversionista).
