What official minimum amount, tier or threshold applies to each relevant option?

The law sets no fixed amount. Residence permits are granted under GAFI Board rules, approved by the Ministry of Interior, that weigh the company's object, capital, number of workers and project site. GAFI's service guide for the temporary investor residence asks, for partnership companies, a certificate of deposit of 25% of the company's capital, and for sole establishments a bank certificate of a USD 200,000 deposit frozen for one year at a bank registered with the Central Bank of Egypt. Separate government fee: EGP 1,500 for the temporary investor-residence recommendation.

What status is obtained, how is it renewed, what longer-term residence/citizenship direction is officially stated, and what happens to the investment when relevant?

On incorporation the residence permit is for one year, renewable for a similar period if the investor shows seriousness in starting the project, and then renewable for further periods of up to five years each, never beyond the term of the project. The application is made on the form designated by GAFI, and the one-year residence recommendation is collected at the Investment Passports Office. The official source does not state a permanent-residence or citizenship direction or what happens to the investment.
