What family, citizenship, ethnic, historical or former-resident connection creates access to this route?

This route is based on the applicant's own former Danish citizenship and grants residence under section 9 d of the Aliens Act. Someone who lost citizenship under sections 8 a or 8 b of the Danish Citizenship Act cannot apply as a former Danish citizen.

How far back can the qualifying connection extend, and what important transmission limitations exist?

The checked official sources did not provide enough route-specific evidence to confirm how far back the qualifying connection can extend and its transmission limits.

Limits of the record
  • Searched 382e8543893aa6af.txt: the former-citizen section only states the applicant's own former citizenship (s. 9 d) and the s. 8 a/8 b exclusion, both already cited in r1 (do-not-touch). Generational rules on the page (parents/grandparents) belong to the separate Danish descent route (s. 9 c(1)), not this via.

What records are central to proving the lineage or historical connection?

The applicant must document that they previously held Danish citizenship. The Immigration Service gives the applicant's or parents' birth certificates as examples of supporting records.

Does the pathway result in a visa, residence permit, right of return, citizenship or another status?

The route grants a Danish residence permit, not an automatic grant of citizenship. Initial residence is temporary, typically one year, and the permit authorises work throughout its validity.

What application progression, residence obligations, family consequences or further citizenship/residence possibilities follow?

The initial temporary permit can be extended. The Immigration Service states that residence based on strong ties may lead to permanent residence after one or two years if the additional requirements are met. An applicant in Denmark normally needs legal stay to submit there. The official source does not state family consequences or a citizenship route.
