The permit is for work as self-employed in mining enterprises in the Republic of Cyprus; the official source states no further activity rights or restrictions. A holder of an Immigration Permit can include their spouse and children under 18 as dependent persons on the permit (Regulation 8 of the Aliens and Immigration Regulations).

The Immigration Control Committee examines applications and recommends to the Deputy Minister of Migration and International Protection, the competent authority, who grants no permit unless the Committee recommends that the person belongs to one of the Regulation 5 categories. Applying gives no right to enter or remain without a valid residence permit or visa. The permit ceases to be valid if a holder residing outside Cyprus does not acquire residence in Cyprus within one year of approval, or if the holder acquires permanent residence abroad or is absent from Cyprus for two years. No fixed validity period or renewal procedure is stated.
According to Regulation 4 of the [Aliens and Immigration Regulations](https://www.gov.cy/mip-md/en/documents/legislation/) the Immigration Control Committee examines applications for Immigration Permits. The Committee submits its recommendations for these applications to the Deputy Minister of Migration and International Protection, who is the competent authority for granting such permits.
An Immigration Permit will not be granted to anybody unless the Immigration Control Committee recommends to the eputy Minister of Migration and International Protection that such person belongs to one of the Categories referred to, as in Regulation 5.
It is noted that the submission of this application does not grant the applicant any right to remain in or enter the Republic without a valid residence permit or visa.
An Immigration Permit shall cease to be valid if the interested person fails to acquire residence in Cyprus within one year from the approval of the application, in case he/she is residing outside Cyprus. It shall also cease to be valid if he/she acquires permanent residence abroad or be absent from Cyprus for a period of two years.
