What family, citizenship, ethnic, historical or former-resident connection creates access to this route?

The qualifying connection is being an emigrant from the territory of the Republic of Croatia, or a descendant of such an emigrant.

Limits of the record
  • The captured page does not state a maximum number of generations for descendants of an emigrant.
  • same extraction as previous revision
Emigrants - documents proving their emigration from the territory of the Republic of Croatia. Descendants of emigrants should also prove that they are related to the emigrant.

How far back can the qualifying connection extend, and what important transmission limitations exist?

Since 1 January 2020 there is no generational limit in the direct line for emigrants' descendants (previously limited to the 3rd degree of kinship). Descendants must prove their relationship to the emigrant; where the emigration was from a former state that then included Croatian territory, the time of emigration and belonging to the Croatian people must also be proven.

Limits of the record
  • Source is official government guidance summarising the Citizenship Act amendments (NN 102/19); the consolidated statute text (Art. 11) was not captured.
  • The spouse limb named in the route title is not addressed by these quotes.

What records are central to proving the lineage or historical connection?

Emigrants must provide documents proving their emigration from Croatian territory. Descendants of emigrants must additionally prove their relationship to the emigrant. If the emigrant (or their ancestor) emigrated from the territory of a former country to which the present Republic of Croatia's territory belonged at the time, they must also prove the time of emigration and their belonging to the Croatian people.

Limits of the record
  • The capture does not name the specific civil registry or legal document type accepted as proof of the emigrant's relationship to the descendant.
  • same extraction as previous revision
Emigrants - documents proving their emigration from the territory of the Republic of Croatia. Descendants of emigrants should also prove that they are related to the emigrant. If the emigrants or their ancestors emigrated from the territory of former countries to which the territory of the present Republic of Croatia belonged at the time of their emigration, they need to prove the time of their emigration and their belonging to the Croatian people.

Does the pathway result in a visa, residence permit, right of return, citizenship or another status?

The outcome is Croatian citizenship, acquired on the day a positive decision is delivered; the person is then entered into the Register of Citizens at the competent registry office, which issues the citizenship certificate.

Limits of the record
  • The capture does not state the processing time between application and the positive decision.

What application progression, residence obligations, family consequences or further citizenship/residence possibilities follow?

The checked official sources did not provide enough route-specific evidence to confirm what follows after the status is granted, including progression, residence obligations and family effects.

Limits of the record
  • Not established: failed a second independent check (NAO_SUSTENTA: The round-1 defect is fixed: quotes 1-3 now prove in person, police/station by stay, diplomatic/consular post and MoI procedure; quotes 4-6 prove when citizenship takes effect, registration and the EUR 139.36 fee. New gap: quote 7 starts at 'whose parents acquired...' and leaves out 'Simplifying the acquisition of Croatian citizenship by naturalization for minor children' (capture 8b22447e, line 35), so 'minor' and the simplification are not in any quote. Fix: extend quote 7 back to line 35.)
