Limits of the record
  • This is the page's only sentence; it also lists the conditions (release from the foreign citizenship or proof it will be granted, conduct respecting the legal order, settled public levies, no security obstacles), which are not cited again in another box.

What qualifying residence period is required and when does the period begin?

Limits of the record
  • The page requires approved permanent residence (stalni boravak) and living in Croatia but states no number of years and no start point; unlike regular naturalisation (8 years, Article 8) no period is given for persons born in Croatia. Checked the assigned FAQ answer and the MUP citizenship FAQ index.

Which types of residence count fully, partially or not at all where the official rules specify this?

The checked official sources did not provide enough route-specific evidence to confirm which types of residence count towards the qualifying period.

See recorded sources
Limits of the record
  • No statement on which residence types count fully, partially or not at all; the only status named is approved permanent residence, inside the single sentence cited under R1. FAQ index identical.

What absence/continuity rules affect accumulation of the qualifying residence period?

The checked official sources did not provide enough route-specific evidence to confirm the absence and continuity rules for the qualifying period.

Limits of the record
  • No absence, continuity or interruption rule is stated on the page or in the FAQ index for this category.

What other major conditions apply, how is the status obtained, and what renewal, document-validity, retention or loss rules matter?

For a foreign person born in Croatia, the MUP states that naturalisation requires living in Croatia, approved permanent stay, foreign-citizenship release or proof it will be granted, compliance with the Croatian legal order, settled public dues and no security obstacle. The request is ordinarily submitted personally at the police administration/station for the applicant’s approved residence, or through a Croatian mission abroad if there is no approved Croatian residence. The MUP says processing time depends on the individual case and a decision follows assessment of legally relevant facts. For an applicant with a disability, the MUP permits filing through a legal representative or authorised proxy.

Limits of the record
  • The official route page does not specify a fixed processing period or a citizenship renewal/loss rule; the general filing statement is not itself a route-specific eligibility rule.

  • MUP citizenship decision timing
Postupak stjecanja, odnosno prestanka hrvatskog državljanstva traje ovisno o složenosti svakog pojedinog zahtjeva. Prilikom utvrđivanja činjeničnog stanja ovo Ministarstvo pribavlja određene podatke od drugih nadležnih tijela (ministarstava, ispostava poreznih uprava, sudova), a i sama stranka dužna je sudjelovati u postupku davanjem svojih izjava te dostavljanjem traženih isprava, ovisno o pravnom osnovu na kojem temelji zahtjev. Tek nakon što Ministarstvo unutarnjih poslova utvrdi sve pravno relevantne činjenice, bit će doneseno odgovarajuće rješenje.

These are the answers currently recorded in the catalogue. A missing or partial answer is not an eligibility decision.
