Which non-member-country family members can accompany or join, and what broad rights do they receive?

The principal holder may request beneficiary visas for financially dependent family members: spouse or permanent partner, children up to age 25, or a child with a physical or mental disability. A beneficiary visa cannot last longer than the principal's visa and does not allow the beneficiary to work.

Limits of the record
  • The sources do not distinguish family members by nationality (Andean or non-Andean) or state any rights for them beyond the beneficiary visa itself.

When do permanent/long-term rights arise and what continuity, absence or retention conditions matter?

The Andean M visa is valid for up to two years and is granted only once. Time held as an M visa holder counts toward the Resident (R) visa, with a minimum of 2 years as M Andean Migrant holder; holders under the Andean Migration Statute must also meet any additional requirements that another member country would impose on Colombians (reciprocity). Continuity exists when each visa is granted before the previous one expires, and meeting the time requirement does not guarantee the R visa. An M visa automatically loses validity if the holder is absent for more than 180 continuous calendar days within each 365 days from issuance.
