Limits of the record
  • the citation covers the investment and the contribution; the programme also requires a minimum personal net worth of CAD $2,000,000 under a separate condition on the same page, not covered here
  • the page states no government application or processing fee, so investment capital cannot be separated from fees on this source

How long must the investment be maintained and what continuing ownership, investment or physical-presence conditions are important?

Within two years of the work permit being issued the investor must complete a stay in Quebec of at least 12 months, of which at least 6 months must be completed by the investor personally and the other 6 months by the investor or by their spouse or de facto spouse; documents proving the stay must then be sent to the Ministere by mail. The investment is a five-year term investment.

Limits of the record

Which family members can be included where officially stated, and what broad residence/work rights result?

Once the selection conditions are met and the Ministere has confirmation of the investment and financial contribution, the applicant receives a notice of intent to select, which allows the applicant and the family members included in the application to apply to the Government of Canada for a work permit for their stay in Quebec; that application must be made within six months of the date of the notice. The official source does not state which family members may be included.

Limits of the record
  • the citation says 'the members of your family included in the application' without defining who may be included; elsewhere the page refers to a spouse aged 16 or over and dependent children aged 18 or over, but only in connection with the values attestation
  • it does not state what work the family members' permits allow, or how long those permits last
  • chars 7279-7781
If you meet the above selection conditions and the Ministère has received confirmation of your investment (investment and financial contribution), you will receive a notice of intent to select. The application for a work permit must be made within six months following the date of the notice of intention to select.
