To immigrate through the NWT Nominee Program a person must either hold a valid full-time and permanent job offer from an NWT employer or be prepared to open, purchase or invest in a business in the NWT; the programme has three streams — Employer-Driven, Francophone and Business.

The applicant must own at least 33.3% of the business unless the personal equity investment is at least CAD 1,000,000, in which case a smaller share is allowed, and must prove a personal net worth of at least CAD 500,000 inside Yellowknife or at least CAD 250,000 outside it.
