Which nationalities and age range can participate?

Participation is decided by citizenship: the applicant's country or territory of citizenship must have a youth mobility agreement (YMA) with Canada. The official source does not state the age range.

See recorded sources
Limits of the record
  • The capture states no age range for incoming participants. The only ages on the page, 'Canadians ages 18-35', sit under a heading about Canadians going abroad, not about foreign nationals coming to Canada.
  • The per-country lists show which categories each country or territory may use, but the capture gives no country-by-country age limits.
  • chars 74-227
To participate in International Experience Canada (IEC), your country or territory of citizenship must have a youth mobility agreement (YMA) with Canada.

What combination of travel, work, study or training does the programme permit?

The category is built around a job that develops the participant professionally: the job offered must count toward 'professional development' and must be classified in NOC TEER category 0, 1, 2 or 3. A TEER 4 job may qualify if it is in the applicant's field of study, in which case the post-secondary diploma, certificate or degree must be submitted with the application. The official source does not state whether travel, study or training is permitted.

Limits of the record
  • The capture says nothing about whether this category also permits travel, study or training alongside the job; it describes the job classification only.
  • chars 442-1145
**Young Professionals employment eligibility requirements** The job you’re offered must count toward your “professional development.” To count, the job must be classified under Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) category 0, 1, 2 or 3 of the [NOC](https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/find-national-occupation-code.html). What are the defining limitations: quota, ballot, previous participation, employer limits, study limits or equivalent?

Repeat participation is capped by nationality: some countries allow a person to participate only once, others allow twice but in different categories, and the applicant must check their own country's eligibility requirements. Within Young Professionals the job itself is limited: it must count toward the applicant's professional development, which requires it to be classified under TEER category 0, 1, 2 or 3 of the NOC. A TEER 4 job may qualify only if it is in the applicant's field of study, which must be evidenced with a post-secondary diploma, certificate or degree. The official source does not state a quota or ballot.

Limits of the record
  • The capture gives no quota figure, no ballot or random-selection mechanism and no cap on places; the per-country category availability is listed but never numbered.
  • The country-by-country participation limits are not enumerated: the page states the once/twice rule in the abstract and sends the reader to each country's own requirements.
  • chars 229-1145
Some countries only allow you to participate once. Others allow you to participate twice, but in different categories. Because each country is different, you should check your country’s eligibility requirements. What funds, insurance, onward travel or similar preparation is particularly important?

Insurance must cover repatriation: the cost of getting the participant to a medical facility, returning them to their home country, or returning their remains to their home country, in the event of severe illness, injury or death. The official source does not state a funds amount or a return-travel requirement.

Limits of the record
  • The capture states no amount of funds, no minimum insurance value and no onward or return-travel ticket requirement.
  • The insurance text appears as a detached explanatory note; the requirement sentence it explains is not in the capture.
  • chars 10158-10426
This is when you need to return to your country in the event of severe illness, injury or death. Your insurance would need to include the cost of - getting you to a medical facility - returning you to your home country or - returning your remains to your home country

How long can the person stay, can the programme be extended or repeated, and what happens when it ends?

The checked official sources did not provide enough route-specific evidence to confirm the length of stay, extension or repeat rules and what happens at the end.

These are the answers currently recorded in the catalogue. A missing or partial answer is not an eligibility decision.
