What exact activity, role or purpose qualifies?

This temporary-residence basis is for a foreign volunteer engaged in an organised placement. The applicant must be at least 18 and no older than 65 and satisfy the conditions stated for this basis.

What organisation, institution, religious body, charity, teacher or host must support the activity?

The placement must be with an institution, humanitarian organisation, citizens’ association or foundation in Bosnia and Herzegovina where the applicant volunteers. The volunteer must have a volunteer contract with that host.

What proves the placement, role, affiliation, experience or cultural/religious/voluntary activity?

The applicant must provide a project or work-scheme document describing duties, the number of participants, placement period, supervision and working hours. Article 57 also requires the host to have compulsory insurance and accept responsibility for the volunteer’s stay and return costs.

Can the person receive salary, pocket money, accommodation, meals or reimbursement? Can they undertake other work?

The host must take responsibility for subsistence, accommodation, food, health insurance and return. The law does not state a general salary or allowance rule for this route and does not authorise unrelated employment.
