The sponsor is the principal holder of the corresponding primary visa; FM dependant status is expressly coterminous with that principal visa holder's status.

What is important for proving marriage, partnership, parentage, custody, dependency or another qualifying relationship?

Required documents for the first visa include the principal visa holder's passport copy, a registered marriage certificate for the spouse, and a birth certificate for dependent/adopted children, plus a recommendation letter from the concerned organisation/ministry.

Limits of the record
  • The current Ministry of Home Affairs Visa Policy 2026 has no separate FR category. Its FSR row expressly covers dependent family members of S and R visa holders. The existing FR route is labelled dependent of a religious worker (R); its current category mapping must be reconciled before any route-specific support rule is asserted. Neither absence of FR from this policy nor FSR silence proves a financial, accommodation, insurance or maintenance exemption.

How does the application work at a high level, what rights does the family member receive, how long does the status last, and how can it become independent or longer-term where officially stated?

Duration is coterminous with the principal visa holder, and any extension is likewise coterminous with that holder. Employment in Bangladesh is prohibited for the dependant; non-compliance leads to cancellation of the visa. No separate long-term settlement pathway is stated for this dependant category.

Limits of the record
  • No independent renewal ceiling, settlement route or permanent-residence pathway is stated for this dependant category beyond the coterminous rule.

These are the answers currently recorded in the catalogue. A missing or partial answer is not an eligibility decision.
