Resolution 74/2007 article 6 requires the necessary official permits and transfer of residence to the new status before taking such work. Article 5 allows the holder’s wife and minor children, on request, entry and residence permits “without work”; article 8 makes their permits fall with cancellation of the principal permit. The NPRA route page requires evidence of retirement, at least 15 years of qualifying service and stable income of at least BHD 500.

How long is the status granted, what is required for renewal, what physical-presence obligations matter, and what longer-term residence direction exists?

NPRA offers the retired foreigner’s self-sponsored residence for two, five or ten years and permits renewal. Under Resolution 74/2007 as amended, renewal should be requested with the required documents at least four weeks before expiry; the permit allows multiple exits and returns during validity. NPRA lists BHD 200, 400 or 600 for those permit terms plus a BHD 5 application fee. The law provides a discretionary grace period of no more than three months after expiry without renewal or cancellation, for departure.
