Which exceptional-talent, academic, scientific, artistic, technological, cultural or other profiles does the pathway target?

The Residence Permit - Researcher Mobility targets researchers: third-country nationals who hold a valid "researcher" residence title issued by another EU Member State and who carry out, for a research institution, an activity that is exempt from the Act Governing the Employment of Foreign Nationals under § 1(2)(h) AuslBG (Section 61 of the Settlement and Residence Act, NAG).

Is an employer, nominator, recognised body, peer group or government endorsement required?

Yes. The applicant must prove an admission agreement (§ 43d NAG) concluded with a research institution (§ 71(1) NAG). Where there are justified doubts, the competent regional office of the Public Employment Service (AMS), at the request of the authority, must have confirmed that the activity is an exempt research activity.

The holder may carry out, for a research institution, a research activity that is exempt from the Act Governing the Employment of Foreign Nationals. Family reunification is possible: spouses, registered partners (aged 21 or older when applying) and unmarried minor children, including adopted and stepchildren, of a holder of a Researcher mobility permit can be admitted.
