What investment option or options qualify?

The real-estate option is for purchase of property in an approved Antigua and Barbuda project.

What official minimum amount, tier or threshold applies to each relevant option?

The real-estate option requires purchase of property valued at a minimum of US$300,000; beneficial ownership through a qualifying non-profit company is permitted only where the company has issued all authorised shares to the applicant(s), is in good standing under Antigua and Barbuda law, is not an exempt or offshore entity, and its beneficial ownership is certified by the Registrar of Companies. Separately, due-diligence fees and a government processing fee are payable, 10% of the processing fee initially and the balance after approval.

    Applicants wishing to qualify for citizenship under the real estate option may choose to purchase property valued at minimum US$300,000 .

How long must the investment be maintained and what continuing ownership, investment or physical-presence conditions are important?

The current CIU guidance and the 2016 amendment state that citizenship may be deprived if the citizen does not spend at least five days in Antigua and Barbuda during the five calendar years after registration. Approved real estate must be held for at least five years.

    ## 4. Amendment of section 4 of the principal Act – Deprivation of Citizenship by Investment Section 4 of the principal Act is amended by repealing subsection (1) and replacing it with the following – “(1) In addition to the powers conferred on him by the Citizenship Act, the Minister responsible for Citizenship may by Order deprive any person of citizenship granted under this Act if that person does not spend a minimum of five (5) days in Antigua and Barbuda during the period of five calendar years after his registration.”
